Biography
Nilda Sosa is an accomplished executive, strategic leader, and public sector professional with over 15 years of experience in change management, institutional development, policy development, entrepreneurship, project management, stakeholder engagement, and organizational transformation.
She currently serves as Director of External Relations and Operations at the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Belize, where she provides strategic leadership for the Commission’s operations, communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, and external relations functions. In this role, she supports the Director General in advancing strategic planning, policy development, organizational development, quality management, business continuity, and international regulatory engagement. Prior to her current role, Ms. Sosa served as Director of Operations and Corporate Services and Senior Policy and Institutional Development Officer at the FSC. Throughout her tenure with the Commission, she has played a key role in driving institutional modernization initiatives, quality management systems, strategic planning, and organizational restructuring.
Before joining the FSC, she served as Director of the Small Business Development Centre Belize (SBDCBelize) under BELTRAIDE, where she championed entrepreneurship and MSME development at the national, regional, and international levels. She contributed to the development of Belize’s MSME Policy and Strategy and National Entrepreneurship Strategy while leading initiatives that strengthened the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Her accomplishments include spearheading Belize’s Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrations, establishing the National Entrepreneurship Conference, leading the development of the inaugural Invest Belize Investment Magazine, and overseeing the institutionalization of the SBDC model, which continues to support entrepreneurs and MSMEs across Belize.
Ms. Sosa holds a master’s degree in project management with Honours from the University of International Cooperation (Costa Rica), a master’s in business administration from National Tsinghua University (Taiwan), and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the University of Belize.
Throughout her career, she has represented Belize in regional and international initiatives related to financial services regulation, entrepreneurship development, institutional strengthening, and economic competitiveness. She remains committed to advancing innovation, leadership, and sustainable development.
